Frequently Asked Questions

This site is great, how can I help?
You can! Tell your friends, place a button on your own site, submit something neat every day.
How do you guys make money / Are all those links paid for?
We currently don't make money of the site, though in the long run we may. There are no 'paid' listings.
Who owns this thing anyway?
Urlspotter/Sitespotter is an initiative of Keir Mierle and Jacques Mattheij. Jacques did the coding and Keir gave the site it's 'face'. We plan to build it out quite a bit so stay tuned for all kinds of interesting developments. We're giving out franchises to selected associates of ours, if you are interested in one of those then drop me a line (email address below).
What about cookies and privacy?
Privacy? What privacy? This is the the web! We know what you had for breakfast!

If you go to a shopping mall someone walking just behind you has a good chance of seeing every place that you visit and every item that you purchase. The can probably see the license plate on your car and get a good guess at who you are and what your average income is and where you live. Every waiter in every restaurant you dined in has access to your credit card info, as does every gas station where you ever tanked and so on. That's perfectly acceptable.

And yet, a site that uses those dreaded 'cookies' is a bad thing, something to be wary of.

An in-depth discussion of how cookies is a little out of scope here, but let's just say that a cookie allows us to know you 'again' when you re-visit the site, so that we can recognize you and associate your personal data with you. We don't sell that data, we don't give it away to others, it simply is a tool in our toolbox to make this site function the way it does.

It's either a 'cookie' or a 'registration form', and we think the cookie is by far the lesser of the two evils.
